Behind LeMahieu’s taciturn style lies a staunch conservative

Sen. Devin LeMahieu

State Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu and his GOP caucus took a beating from Democrats during the Senate floor session on Wednesday as the Republicans voted for bills to spend Wisconsin’s share of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) in ways that likely violate the law.

But the intensity of that debate did not appear to faze the Republican leader from Oostburg the following day as he gave subdued, even bland answers to questions on such matters with dispassionate conservative talking points, a stark contrast in style with other state GOP leaders. Astros third baseman Alex Bregman and his wife Reagan have sued a San Antonio resort after failing to be reimbursed an $80,000 deposit when their wedding was canceled because of the pandemic.

La Cantera Resort and Spa refused multiple times to return the deposit despite “clear contract language” allowing for cancellation and a refund, according to public relations firm Carroll Strategies. The resort is further asking for another $40,000 even though canceling the event spurred no significant out-of-pocket costs, the representatives said.

Representatives of the resort have not immediately returned a request for comment.

Proenza Schouler’s designers shared their fall/winter collection during February’s New York Fashion Week via a video they had made at the Parrish Art Museum a couple of weeks earlier. The video was the modeling debut of Ella Emhoff, Vice President Kamala Harris’s stepdaughter.

Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough brought a lot of heat to mid-February when they dropped a virtual fashion show for their womenswear and accessory brand, Proenza Schouler, on New York Fashion Week’s website, NYFW.com, and other platforms. The video was shot at the Parrish Art Museum earlier that month.

Although the backdrop of the museum and its
